Enhancing Audio Description’ is a collaboration between the University of York and Anglia Ruskin University and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The project explores the use of sound design techniques (including additional sound recordings and surround sound) for accessibility. In this stage of the project we are working on testing the accuracy of our techniques by conducting listening tests with visually impaired volunteers. Listening tests will be carried out at the University of York. They involve measuring how sound is picked up by the participant's ears as well as listening to an extract from a film and answering some questions. The whole process will take approximately 90 minutes.
Participants will receive a £40 gift voucher and travel expenses within the UK will be covered.
The dates available for participants to take part in this study are Monday the 20th of February to Monday the 6th of March starting at any time between 9am and 5pm. If these dates are not convenient, please get in touch to find out whether we could organise another time.
