British Blind Sport are delighted to announce that we will be supporting Sport England in promoting the This Girl Can campaign by creating profiles of our female members and highlighting their accomplishments in sport.
British Blind Sport’s CEO, Alaina MacGregor says: “This Girl Does is designed to show the community what visually impaired girls and women are already doing in sport. Their stories are positive and demonstrate the capabilities of VI girls and women from grassroots participation through to Paralympic achievement.
By launching our This Girl Does campaign on International Women’s Day, we aim to convey that sport and the enjoyment of it has no limits. Over the coming weeks, British Blind Sport are proud to roll out a series of inspirational profiles to support the positive message that Sport England sends with its This Girl Can campaign. With our efforts, we hope that we are able to encourage more women and girls with sight loss to participate in sport.”
Additionally, Lyndsey Hollands, Strategic Relationship Manager at BBS, says: “As a woman working in sport and participating in a number of different sports myself, I’m keen to promote the benefits of sport and active lifestyles to other women and girls. Our This Girl Does campaign is an excellent tool to motivate other visually impaired women and girls to get involved at any level.”
