Jingle Balls

Text KIDZ40 £4 to 70070 to help a visually impaired child discover sport this Christmas!

We are launching our Christmas “Jingle Balls” campaign to raise funds to help visually impaired children stay healthy and active.

We have been working for almost 40 years to provide specialist adaptive sport and events, advice and support for the visually impaired community.

Jingle balls are audible balls used by children who are blind or partially sighted during recreational and sport activities. The most basic activities like walking down the street can be hard for a visually impaired child, so sports such as football can be almost impossible with a conventional ball. Jingle balls can be used in a wide range of activities, including those that engage the whole family.

70% of visually impaired children attend mainstream schools, and many PE teachers don't know how to engage them safely, leading to reduced sporting opportunities and lack of confidence. It's harder for these children to learn sport in schools and it is harder for their families to afford specialist equipment. Yet being active is particularly important for visually impaired children: the benefits extend beyond physical health to increased self-esteem, independence and social skills. Participating in sport leads to an overall happier life.

Alaina MacGregor, Chief Executive of the charity says: “British Blind Sport is about to enter its 40th year and we are hoping people will join in the Christmas spirit to help us support visually impaired children for the next 40 years. Developing sport to give every blind and partially sighted child the same opportunities as their sighted friends is so important. We can only do it with the voluntary income we receive through campaigns such as Jingle Balls.”

Donate and support VI children!

A donation as little as £4 will help to buy jingle ball and make a difference to a visually impaired child.
